The rough edit for the first music video for "Takes A Little Time" justarrived at the office yesterday. Haven't had an opportunity to see it myself, but the description sounds mighty cool! It was filmed in New York City by TomOliphant. I hope to get more details from Amy when we meet in the morning. Ihope to make a post of the premier date, so stay tuned right here!
Billboard Magazine certainly gave the single a wonderful review:AMY GRANT
``Takes A Little Time'' (4:07)< A&M
This is exactly the single that Grant's longtime fans have been hoping for.Taken from the forthcoming ``Behind The Eyes,'' the track is contemporary andcompletely accessible to pop radio, yet it has a sweet acoustic-rock texturethat is decidedly more adult than anything on the artist's last album.Grant's performance is also startlingly aggressive, as she explores her raspybelting boundaries and a playful falsetto. The uplifting tone of the lyrics, fluttering harmonica solos, and anthemic chorus are the crowning elements toa winning effort that will thrill AC and triple-A programmers before wooingfolks at top 40.
So there you go!If you haven't heard the song yet played on your local radio station - give ajingle and request it! If you have heard it - let them know what you think ofit. Believe me - us public info folks appreciate a little feedback. They liketo know you're out there and what you think really does matter!
On a totally personal note - my family and I went to hear Phil Keaggy andJohn Catchings play for the Wednesday night service at Otter Creek Church ofChrist last night. There is just nothing quite like joining voice with a C ofC body in hymn-singing. Coming from an a cappella tradition - they have trulydeveloped their voices as instruments. It's little wonder that having grownup in that tradition, it was the songs the impacted Amy most of all in hergrowing up years. What a wonderful evening! Phil has such a sweet spiritabout him and he has done for the guitar what Bobby McFerrin has done for thehuman body. He is a marvel to watch! At any rate - Phil sang a song that Idon't even know the title of, but it reminded me so much of what isespecially true of Amy's new album. As I prepare to respond to people whowill be listening and writing to us with their reactions I want to reiteratethis truth... The essence of Phil's song was : "A song changes no one. Atbest, it can hold up a mirror to our lives... Only the love of God can reachthe heart of a man on the 25th row." Amen to that!
Until next time...
